Emerald Data Networks President Speaks at IFMA Non-Profit Summit
Darrell Rodgers Provides Guidance on Phone & IT Systems Maintenance
ATLANTA, February 17, 2011 -- Emerald Data Networks, Inc. today announced that Darrell Rodgers, company president, was a featured speaker at the 2011 IFMA Non-Profit Summit. The summit, hosted by the Atlanta chapter of the International Facility Management Association, focuses on helping organizations develop cost-effective, preventative maintenance plans for their facilities.
"We're pleased to continue our support for this event," said Rodgers, who also spoke at the summit in 2010. "Technology is one of the most critical aspects of facility management. Yet non-profits, like many businesses, don't know where their vulnerabilities are, which means they don't know where to focus their attention."
Facility managers and executives from more than 20 non-profits attended Rodgers' presentation, which covered a wide range of technology and telecommunications topics. One member of the audience disclosed that her organization had saved $14,000 using methods learned from Rodgers' presentation the prior year.
According to Rodgers, "Statistics show that fifty percent of small and mid-sized businesses that experience a data disaster close their doors within six weeks; another forty percent within six months. Only ten percent survive. Organizations that have a good technology plan in place improve their odds of surviving. A plan provides structure, boundaries and direction. If disaster strikes, a plan enables technology professionals to more quickly remedy the situation."
Emerald Data Networks has a long tradition of supporting non-profit organizations. A four-time winner of both the Atlanta Better Business Bureau's Torch Awards and the US Commerce Association's Best of Atlanta awards, Emerald supports multiple local non-profit and community organizations by voluntarily providing system management and maintenance.
